The Brief
City Electrical Factors Limited (CEF), who were formed in 1951, are the UK’s leading Electrical Wholesale Network, and currently boast twice as many distribution outlets than their nearest competitor.
In order to provide the best possible service CEF has developed a highly responsive and motivated organisation that can adapt readily to each individual customer’s needs and requirements.
Our Solution
CSL Automation designed an efficient conveyor system for CEF, using 24v motorized roller conveyors and a web-based WCS/SCADA for real-time control. Inbound replenishment stock (in grey totes) and order picking (in red totes) shared the same conveyor for easy identification. AmbaFlex spirals were used to transport items at high levels, maximizing space.
Orders were inducted on the ground floor, elevated to the mezzanine, and transferred based on WCS control. Completed orders were returned for packing via a two-tier conveyor system, with items sorted by a scanning array and diverters into dispatch lanes.
