CSL continues association with Diageo at new Leven bottling hall

Conveyor Systems Ltd (CSL) is working on the multi-million-pound expansion of Diageo’s bottling facilities at Leven, designing a state-of-the-art conveyor system to transport empty boxes from automatic case erectors to bottling lines. The system features space-saving spiral elevators, high-level accumulating conveyors, and ergonomic manual packing stations. The use of overhead conveyors optimizes floor space and allows safe access for pedestrians and trucks.

CSLā€™s system handles both high-volume and premium products, ensuring smooth operation for luxury items like spirits. It includes features like adjustable luffing belts, tiered packing stations, and a flap detector system for quality control. The conveyors also integrate multi-slat conveyors to turn cases for accurate presentation during automatic coding.

The project, which involves complex control systems and phased installation to minimize disruption, is set to be completed in Spring 2012. Steve Graham, Managing Director of CSL, emphasized the system’s efficiency and flexibility, providing Diageo with a packaging operation that can adapt to future needs.
