CSL provide a wheelie successful transfer between floor levels
Conveyor Systems Ltd (CSL) was awarded a contract by a leading German automobile manufacturer to replace a slow and unreliable vertical platform elevator for transferring car wheel assemblies between ground and mezzanine floors. CSL’s solution was to install a 25Ā° inclined belt conveyor, 11 meters long, with grip-top belting to lift assemblies to a height of 3.5 meters, integrating with an existing system.
To ensure smooth transfer, a 3-meter horizontal belt section and a āsoftā curve were added to prevent product slip. The 750mm-wide conveyor, fed by a powered conveyor at ground level, includes high-level roller side guides and a scanning device for barcode verification. Speed variation and a braked motor prevent rollbacks. The system, designed for future throughput increases, currently handles 250 wheels per hour reliably, meeting the projectās goals for efficiency and budget.
