Turnkey production line conveyor and mezzanine floor
Arvato, a leading European 3PL provider, upgraded its handling processes at its Hams Hall site near Birmingham to improve efficiency and accuracy during seasonal sales peaks. CSL, having worked with Arvato on several large projects, was chosen to deliver a packing and sortation system for their expanded direct-to-consumer fulfilment operations.
Using advanced 3D CAD software, CSL designed a system that integrates 36 packing stations with special belt conveyors. The system can handle over 60 packages per minute, sorting packages of various sizes and types, from small poly bags to large boxes containing items like glass bottles of beer.
To ensure accuracy, the system uses nine SICK barcode scanners and a check weigher to verify weights before items are fed onto a high-speed Intralox DARB sortation conveyor. The system also includes features like Zero Line Accumulation (ZLP) conveyors and fibre optic sensors for precise sorting. The solution efficiently manages Arvatoās peak demand while reducing transfer points and improving overall handling efficiency.
